Natural vs. Synthetic Vitamins

Natural vs. Synthetic Vitamins

When I was a child, I was told to take my vitamins if I wanted to be healthy. Isn’t this what we have all been told by our parents and the media? What if I told you that it is a lie? Would you believe me? What if I told you that not only are vitamins not helping you, but they are probably hurting you. At this point you are probably thinking, “This guy is crazy”, and “Hey Dr. Peter don’t you sell a lot of vitamins”? “Aren’t you being a hypocrite”? Well, my reply to that is, “yes I am crazy” (all chiropractors are), but just because I’m crazy doesn’t mean I’m not right. Vitamins are extremely complex organic substances needed by the body in small amounts, and are essential for human life. The body is not capable of producing vitamins and an absence of these substances will cause the body to fall into a state of disrepair and eventually disease. Several recent studies have indicated that many of the vitamins we have been taking may have no therapeutic effect. That means they don’t work. I am not sure why this is such a great revelation because Dr. Royal Lee, the founder of Standard Process Vitamins has been saying this since 1940. To understand why our vitamins are not working for us, we have to realize that the vitamins being sold at the store are synthetic fractions that barely resemble the vitamin complexes nature has provided for us in real food. WHY NATURAL VITAMINS WORK Living natural vitamin complexes are colloidal (gelatinous), protein in nature, and have enzymes and/or coenzymes. Pasteurization (high heat) destroys enzymes thereby destroying the vitamin complex. Synthetic fractionated crystalline chemically pure vitamins have been separated from their protein components. This destroys all biological function. Natural Vitamin complexes contain trace minerals. Synthetics do not. Without these minerals, the vitamins are never activated and function ceases. Because you may still be eating real food, a certain amount of the co-factors necessary to make vitamins function exists as a pool within the body. When you take synthetic vitamins your body tries to activate them by drawing on this pool. The problem with this is that the pool is soon depleted of co-factors. By depleting your body of these co-factors you have now caused exactly what you were trying to prevent in the first place, an acute nutritional deficiency. That’s right, synthetic vitamins cause nutritional deficiencies! When Vitamins are synthesized in a lab, you get molecules that are mirror images of each other. They have identical chemical characteristics (the same number of atoms), but differ from each other in configuration. A good analogy would be if I placed...
